Whole Home Spring Cleaning Tips From the Pros

Whole Home Spring Cleaning Tips From the Pros

June 16, 2023

Few of us are genuinely excited about the prospect of spring cleaning. However, that doesn’t make the task any less important. On the contrary, spring cleaning all of your closet systems is a key part of getting your home in order before the busy summer vacation season. Wondering how best to organize all the spaces in your house? Follow these spring cleaning suggestions courtesy of the Closet World team.

Closet

Spring cleaning is a great time to clean out your clothes closet as well. We recommend you start off by removing all of your clothes and accessories and giving the closet system a good dusting. Then sort through your belongings before putting them back. If you haven’t worn an item in the last year, it’s a good sign you can toss or donate it. You may also want to move out-of-season items to another area of the home so you can see your spring and summer wardrobes better.

Pantry

If you’re a parent, then the odds are you’re currently preparing for the kids to finish out the school year and start summer break. One of the best things you can do is organize your pantry so it’s easy for the little ones to grab snacks. First, remove everything from the pantry and wipe down the shelves and bins. Then go through your food supplies, tossing everything that’s expired or stale. Have a bunch of goods your family doesn’t like? Load them into some recyclable bags and take them down to your local food kitchen. Then stock plenty of child-friendly snacks in bins placed long enough for small arms to reach.

Garage

The garage may not technically be part of the home, but the odds are it still requires some spring cleaning. After all, many of us use our garages as a repository for spare supplies and junk throughout the year. So, there’s a good chance this space is still stuffed with winter items like sleds, ski gear, and snow shovels. If you want to get your garage in shape while making space for spring and summer supplies, we recommend sorting belongings into piles to keep, toss, and donate. Be sure to get rid of anything that’s damaged or broken, as well as junk items like empty paint cans and cardboard boxes. Once you know what you need, you can purchase shelving units and bins to get items up off the garage floor. Consider hanging larger items like bikes and surfboards from the ceiling, where they won’t get in the way.
